…and goes beyond to help you better understand what breastfeeding products and tools may be helpful, navigating baby wearing and breastfeeding, ways to develop your network of breastfeeding support before baby comes, preparing for and owning your birth, understanding common challenges that can occur in the first few days/weeks and how to get the best outcome, a comprehensive resource guide, and a question and answer session.

What is involved in a prenatal breastfeeding class? (2 hours)

*Prenatal breastfeeding classes (individual,

in-home, or group)

*Prenatal breastfeeding consultations

*Postpartum consultations

*Follow-up consultations

*Back-to-work or school consultations

*Free babywearing instruction, referrals to other healthcare providers, and phone and email follow-up

I offer a variety of services before and after baby is born to help you meet your breastfeeding goals

What is involved in a prenatal breastfeeding consultation? (1 hour)

*Thorough discussion of past medical history, breastfeeding history, and all pertinent factors leading up to the current date
*A breast assessment to identify any presenting anatomical challenges
*A full assessment of baby, including oral anatomy and suck function
*Positioning and latch techniques
*Answers to any questions you may have
*Referals to other Health Care Providers (if necessary)
*A pre and post-feeding weight check to assess milk transfer (if applicable)
*Any tools to assist you in breastfeeding (nipple shields, etc.), if needed
*Set up and demonstration of consumer or hospital-grade pumps, and proper flange fitting
*A detailed 48-hour care plan, which spells out all of the recommendations we have discussed
*A list of community breastfeeding resources, including postpartum breastfeeding support groups
*A superbill with up-to-date diagnostic coding that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement
*If applicable, a comprehensive report that will be faxed to your pediatrician so that they are aware of any important findings and suggestions, which helps with the continuity of your and baby's care
*Email and phone follow-up



What is involved in a typical postpartum consultation? (2 hours)

*Thorough discussion of past medical history, breastfeeding history, and all pertinent factors leading up to the current date
*A breast assessment to identify any presenting anatomical challenges
*A game plan for getting off to the best possible start in the hospital
*Positioning and latch techniques
*Identifying early feeding cues and signs of feeding effectiveness
*Normal newborn expectations in the first 3 days of life
*Demonstration of hand expression
*Handouts
*A superbill with up-to-date diagnostic coding that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement
*Email and phone follow-up 


PRENATAL PLANNING

What is involved in a typical back-to-work/school consultation? (1 hour)

*Thorough discussion of pumping and milk storage guidelines 
*An individually-tailored game plan for your particular work or school situation to help ease the transition
*Tips and techniques for keeping up milk production
*Information on current laws and protections regarding workplace pumping
*Ideas on ways to maximize breastfeeding when you are with your baby 
*A superbill with up-to-date diagnostic coding that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement
*Email and phone follow-up
